Just recently, I joined
other front-line advocates
and the BC Federation of
Labour in a press conference
to respond and reflect on the
Parliamentary
Committee
report on the Temporary
Foreign Workers Program.
The report came out on Sept
19 and the press conference
was organized on Sept 21.
The lengthy report listed
21 recommendations, a
significant number of these
were recommendations to
study and review certain
measures and issues. The
Review process had already
been criticized with not having
enough voices from migrant
workers themselves and
migrant advocates. Certainly,
no one from British Columbia
was invited to testify before
the Committee.
