its market offering to ensure
it remains relevant while
providing value. In June
2016, the company set out to establish a
world-class laboratory, which is now fully
functional. According to Sean Mashimbyi,
Cirebelle’s analytical services supervisor,
the facility is fi tted with some of the most
technologically advanced laboratory
equipment, including a Clarus 580 Gas
Chromatograph and Spectrum Two
IR Spectrometer from PerkinElmer. The

quality control laboratory also boasts an
oil content apparatus, which is a highly
specialised instrument and possibly one
of only two in the country. This is used to
quantify the quality of Cirebelle’s wax-
based products.
‘With our fully functional high-tech
laboratory, Cirebelle is ideally positioned
to provide outsourced analytical
services in southern Africa,’ Mashimbyi
explains. ‘Our capabilities are vast,
ranging from ingredient and product
specifi c competencies to research and
development and technical expertise to
assist customers with formulations and
new product development.’

development programme
When P C Review fi rst revealed
Cirebelle’s plans to establish a laboratory,
the magazine also highlighted the
company’s programmeto launch an
internship programme. This is aimed at
students looking to gain much needed
on-the-job experience in the industry. The
fi rst intern to partake in the programme
is currently employed at Cirebelle and
working closely with Mashimbyi in
the laboratory. The company is now
expanding the programme beyond its
lab to various other functions within the
business, such as marketing, engineering
and research and development. ·
