Petal School Distric Calendar 2018 - 2019 - Page 3

A Message from the Superintendent fter experiencing a very successful 2017-2018 school year, I am antic- ipating an even better 2018-2019 school year! I am so proud of our students, teachers and staff who worked so hard to earn the distinc- tion of being the #1 school district in the state of Mississippi for 2017. Once the accountability ratings are released for 2018, I trust they will also reflect the superior work that takes place each and every day in our schools. A We have a couple of changes in the administrative team in the school district this year. Kelli Brown has moved from Petal Elementary Principal to Director of Student Assessment at the district office. Wyn Mims, has moved into the PES Principal position from her former assistant principal position at Petal Primary. Both of these administrators have numerous years experience in our district and understand our culture of excellence. They will help us continue to help each and every student reach their highest potential. We also have other changes in some of our assistant principal positions. We look forward to how these changes will bring new ideas to our district. Our annual theme for 2018-2019 is “Hometown Values. Global Vision.” We have used this as a slogan for several years but we updated that logo and hope to revitalize it for permanent use. It’s the perfect illustration of what we stand for in our district. We do want our students to have our hometown values that we hold dear. But we also want them to be ready to compete in a global society with the skills necessary to be successful anywhere in the world! Thank you to our parents, businesses and commu- nity for your continued support of our schools. Matt Dillon Matt Dillon, PhD Superintendent Petal School D istrict
