PETAL MIDDLE SCHOOL A n exciting place to be is Petal Mid- dle School! This star schoolʻs hal- lowed halls brimming with enthusiastic preteens and teenagers are the home to seventh and eighth grade students eager to embrace the school experience. From elementary school to high school is a vital transition period in a studentʼs school career; therefore, this is a top priority of the administration and teachers at Petal Middle School. Teach- ers work collaboratively to prepare en- gaging lessons which provide opportunities for every student to excel in academics and extracurricular activi- ties on a daily occurrence. Promoting personal and team achieve- ments encourages a positive self esteem and enhance a studentsʼ physical and academic well-being. Team sports such as football, basketball, and baseball, as well as cheerleading, band, archery, show choir, and art classes provide a di- verse array of activities for students to participate. Clubs and organizations in- clude: Jr. Beta Club, Student Council, Math Counts, FCA, First Priority and Ro- botics. Middle school students can be seen reading a book in the outside classroom or handing out their beautiful art projects adopted by teachers throughout the school. Off campus lunches in addition to special rewards are given to students reaching their reading goals. Positive recognition is made each nine weeks for “Doing the Right Thing” which is the motto of the administration, teachers, and students. All of these programs empower students to explore and expand their talents and interests. Because of these endeavors, Petal Middle School students develop valuable collaborative skills, foster friendships, and prepare for their future. As a united group, the principals and teachers of Petal Middle School strive to fulfill the mission of our district which is to empower students with the attitudes, knowledge, and life-long learning skills essential to thrive as a responsible citi- zen in an ever-changing global society. HIGHLIGHTS • Participates in the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, MTCM Competition, Mathcounts Competition and Ro- botics • Superior rating for 7th and 8th Grade Bands and Choral Department at contest • Spark Show Choir were top winners in the Show Choir Masters Jackson Prep, MS Show Choir Contest, West Jones Invitational, Heart of America and the Magnolia Classic Oak Grove Competitions • Shared Decision Making Council which consist of Staff, Parents, Students and Community members • Students participated in the VFW Patriotʼs Pen Writing Contest • Charitable contributions given to the Angel Tree through the Salvation Army, Bedford Care Center in Petal, Humane Society, Relay for Life and the Petal Childrenʼs Task Force
