Progress has been made in the last 25 years, but 1 person out of 8 goes to bed hungry every night. While emergency food relief interventions have proven to be effective short-term solutions, they are not a sustainable option in the long run.

THE GOAL

World Central Kitchen wants to improve food security BEYOND short-term responses in a way that will protect and promote sustainable livelihoods through new and innovative ideas.

THE PROGRAM

World Central Kitchen’s work in mountainous Palmiste Tampe has implemented a community garden and Smart School Kitchen. With a community garden and the Smart School Kitchen, the community can now:

Grow their own food | Sell chicken eggs to supplement their school meals | Cook with local ingredients | Encourage students to attend the Palmiste Tampe school with the provision of a daily meal
