Mastery Orchestra (Chamber)
Chamber Orchestra is the most advanced orchestra at Harrison High
School. Members are selected into this class by audition only, and the
literature is grade level VI. Educational emphasis is placed on the
advancement of instrumental technique, further development of music
reading and comprehension skills, independent musicianship, critical
thinking skills, style, and a deeper understanding of small group
ensemble music, and orchestral literature. This class follows the Georgia
Performance Standards for Orchestra at the Mastery level which
includes the following categories: Skills and Techniques/Performance,
Creation, Critical Analysis/Investigate and Cultural and Historical
Context. Literature will contain both Classical and Popular music.
Students will perform both in small group ensemble projects and as a
large group. Chamber Orchestra will perform outside of class on a
regular basis.
Pre-requisites: Prior orchestral experience and an audition
Grade Levels: 9-12
