This article explains the project and the subsequent training procedures they followed throughout the pre-, in-, and post-season. This article explains how contrast training works while providing example exercises that show how to effectively group them together to provide maximum gains for the basketball athlete. P.J. GARDNER, MS, ATC, CSCS When designing an off-season training program for a high school ice hockey team, following a periodized program that includes multiple training phases and scheduled active rests can provide maximum strength gains and help prevent injuries. This article provides a detailed off-season sample program that includes three phases and example exercises that are targeted towards high school ice hockey athletes. HIP AND GROIN HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE IN HOCKEY PLAYERS RYAN VAN ASTEN, MSC, CSCS In order to attempt to prevent hockey players from hip and groin injuries, a strength and conditioning coach or trainer must understand the risk factors as well as guidelines for maintaining proper posture while skating in competition.
