La “stregarola”
Un oggetto particolare è la “stregarola,” una trebbiatrice a
mano, utilizzata dalle “spigarole”, o spigolatrici, giovani donne
che raccoglievano in un mazzetto le spighe di grano che
sfuggivano ai falcetti, e così racimolavano qualcosa per la
propria dote. Si tratta di una tavola di legno, che si poggiava tra
le ginocchia, su cui si strofinavano e sbattevano i mazzetti delle
spighe raccolte.
The “stregarola”
A special object is the “stregarola”, it was used by the women
who collected the wheat stalks that had not been cut by the
men’s pruning knives in a bunch, thus making some money for
their own dowries. It is a wooden board they put between the
knees, and they rubbed and flailed the wheat thereupon.
