unità di misura; le “ciocie,” calzature dei contadini; zappe;
ventilatrice.
The farming room
In the room devoted to farming, the main event in peasant life
is staged: the cultivation and harvesting of wheat. Ploughs hang
from the ceiling in the centre of the room, and are surrounded
by many tools for the cultivation of the earth.
There are “saricchi” to cut the wheat stalks only, as the wheat
was considered as masculine, “sarecchie”, to cut all other –
feminine – plants; various weights, the “ciocie”, peasants’
shoes, hoes, watering containers called “cocchi” and “padelle”,
as well as “marzocche” used to shell maize; the husking
machine from the castle; the wooden chest to preserve farming
products, and the grain blower.
