The “scupittu”
The “scupittu” is made of a straw handle held together by two
wicker ties, while the long yellowish and reddish twigs cut at
the end form the ending of the object. Sorghum canes were
cleaned and left to dry in the sun. The “scupittu” was used to
clean vats and other containers both in the cellar and the
kitchen, as well as to clean tables before and after meals.
