[EVENT SPEAKERS DIARY] Developing Transformation Ready Leadership and Workforce using Transformational Learning Vikas Jain Founder of Adhyan Group Only Survival strategy in Highly Disruptive VUCA World I n the VUCA world i.e. a world, which is vulnerable, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, existing change management approaches would not be suffi cient for survival. Future ready organisations need to constantly evolve themselves with the help of transformative mindset. Eric Hoffer once said, “In a world of change, the learners shall inherit the earth while the learned shall fi nd themselves perfectly suited for a world that no longer exists.” The transformation ready organisations need to have transformation ready leadership to lead the transformation. To develop transformation ready leadership, our L&D process is required to evolve at the same pace. Transformational Learning is an approach to develop leadership and workforce, with higher level of learning agility, by utilising the best practices of ‘Learning Principles’ along with ‘New age learning tools and resources in the Digital World”. Transformational learning also covers the best practices of ‘Self Directed Learning’ which is transforming the Education system. Especially for early leaders, transition from Manager to Leader requires high magnitude of change in terms of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude. Hence, learning agility of early leaders needs to be very high to keep pace with the changing expectations and increased work pressure. Requirement for constantly upskilling the workforce is also extremely essential in the fast changing environment. Shelf life of skills, that is duration for which a skill remains relevant, is getting shorter day by day. As per various researches, around 50 percent of the job profi les and relevant skill sets will no longer exist in near future. Hence, organisations are required to setup mechanism to hire a learning agile workforce as well as nurture learning agility in existing workforce. As per my research, which also includes personal interaction with world leaders, while authoring the book The Secret Behind Super- Achievers: Self-Education, I realised that leaders are very intensive learners. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft is termed college-dropout as per “Current Education System”, but if you follow his lifestyle and social media, you will fi nd that he is an Intensive Learner. As I frequently say, “Bill Gates might be a college dropout but not learning dropout”. There are many such eminent persons and if you look closely, their lifestyle and communication would refl ect transformational learning. I am very sure that with transformational learning, one not just manages change for better but can become the change maker. P & M 68 | Vol. 9 Issue 6 • Sep-Oct 2018, Noida / Pre-Event Edition
