Message from the President

It is with much excitement and anticipation that I write this address . I am experiencing these emotions as we approach our second annual conference to be held October 27 , 2017 at Camelback Resort in the Poconos . Our theme and title for the event is Community , Connections , and Contributions : Nurses Shaping the Future of Healthcare .
We return to this venue as feedback from members who participated last year were overwhelmingly positive . They especially liked that the setting permitted families to enjoy the resort ’ s recreational activities while our attendees engaged with the conference . Many members and their families chose to extend their stay throughout the weekend .
I urge all RNs to consider attendance at this year ’ s annual meeting . It is an excellent opportunity to embody and experience our theme of community , connections , and contributions . PSNA will offer several networking opportunities , podium and poster presentations , and education on impacting the future of our state ’ s professional society .
For PSNA members , we will be bringing a motion to the floor during the business meeting to change our current bylaws to optimize programmatic activities and membership outreach throughout the state . The motion will recommend a change in our organizational structure . As this motion recommends bylaw change , members will have access to read the motion a minimum of 30 days prior to our scheduled annual meeting . Please be hypervigilant of all communication from PSNA to be sure you have read the proposed change and plan to attend the annual meeting to participate in deliberation and vote on the proposal . I am looking forward to our professional dialogue during the annual meeting and improving our statewide organizational work .
As you know , Pennsylvania is geographically , socially , and economically diverse . Any group that works to advocate for all citizens of the Commonwealth is challenged to be sure that there is full understanding of and consideration of regional differences throughout the state . As a result , I am reaching out to PSNA ’ s members across the state as I encourage you to attend this year ’ s annual meeting on October 27 in the Poconos .
I look forward to seeing you there !
