Public Health Continuing Dental Education
PDA’s website offers a wealth of information and
great resources for members on a variety of topics.
You can access the new Community Water
Fluoridation page at www.padental.org/fluoride.
This toolkit includes quick facts, talking points and
other media resources, including a sample letter to
the editor. In 2016, PDA unveiled a Take Five
initiative that encourages our members to become
Medical Assistance providers. You can find details
about the Take Five program and helpful links at
www.padental.org/take5. To help members meet their CE requirements, PDA and our district
and local societies sponsors educational events in several locations throughout
the state, including Wellsboro, Greensburg and Danville. Some topics include
risk management, infection control and all phases of clinical dentistry. Visit

In response to frequent requests from the public
and member dentists, PDA’s website includes a
comprehensive directory of low-cost dental clinics
located in Pennsylvania. The resource, organized
alphabetically by county, offers the public, elected
officials and member dentists an easily accessible
guide to low-cost dental centers. The directory is
a popular stop for the public, receiving a total of
3,542 unique visits in 2016. PDA members are
encouraged to volunteer and/or contribute
supplies to the dental clinics. To view the directory,
please visit www.padental.org/clinicdirectory.
We reach out to the public to promote the
importance of good oral health – and at the same
time promote PDA – by distributing monthly news
releases to media outlets statewide, on all sorts of
topics ranging from fluoridation to mouthguards
to detecting oral cancer. We strive to always
remind the public of the importance of maintain-
ing oral health and making regular visits to their
dentist. We also promote PDA’s legislative victories
and keep members informed every step of the
way as legislation moves through committees and
both houses of the General Assembly.
