Pennoni Perspective Volume 23 • Issue 1 • Spring 2019 - Page 21

Pennoni worked with the Township to develop cost estimates for the agreement with the Intermediate Unit to fund the roundabout construction. Once funding was secured, Pennoni designed the roundabout using the latest in software technology, Autodesk Vehicle Tracking and Bentley Systems SiteOps, to evaluate the best position of the roundabout to minimize the impacts on surrounding properties. The advantage of the software was the ability to show stakeholders, in real time, what impacts were created by moving the roundabout to the north, south, east, or west to find the optimum location. Utility relocations were also a significant factor in this project. Once the design was complete, we coordinated the construction bidding process and worked with PennDOT to obtain all necessary approvals. The $1M project was started in September 2018 and opened to the public at the end of January 2019. P E N N O N I | 21
