YORKSHIRE GOAT DAIRY PROJECT
The growth in health and
environmental awareness has
created a huge expansion in
smaller, more sustainable methods
of food production and farming.
The evolution in farming methods
led to an interesting project win
for Derbyshire based swivel joint
specialist, Rotaflow FV Ltd. The floor rotates around the static
central unit whilst the milking is in
progress.
Yorkshire Dairy Goats needed a
swivel joint to replace a unit on a
rotating milking machine. This kind
of milking machine is common
in the bovine dairy industry, but
innovative in goat farming. Rotaflow worked closely with the
client to ensure the replacement
design would be installed easily
into their system. Project lead time
was very important. The completed
design was made out of 316 SS and
Yorkshire Dairy Goats is delighted
with the result. So much so they
have installed a second Rotaflow
swivel in another machine.
The Rotaflow design is in the centre
of the milking parlour. Goats are
brought on to a rotating floor
containing numerous milking
stations, then are linked to a
spare station when one is free.
