SOUTHERN MANUFACTURING SHOW PREVIEW ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS INDUSTRY SOUTH A WORLD OF SOLUTIONS IN ONE SHOW A world of engineering solutions awaits visitors to Southern Manufacturing & Electronics, when it returns to Farnborough International from February 5th to 7th 2019. The UK’s largest annual engineering exhibition will host around 800 exhibiting companies from all over the UK, continental Europe and beyond – an increase of around 20% on 2018. Now entering its third decade, the diversity of firms taking part gives Southern Manufacturing & Electronics huge appeal across a broad spectrum of engineering enterprise. Gathered in the plush, modern surroundings of the 20,000m² Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre – opened in 2018 at a cost of £35m – will be an incredible selection of suppliers, ranging from component vendors to major international machinery manufacturers. There is also a wide selection of subcontract service providers specialising in everything from fabrication to electronics assembly. Not surprisingly, given Farnborough’s importance at the heart of the UK’s $22bn aerospace industry, there is a high percentage of AS9100-rated subcontractors featured in the exhibitor list. But perhaps more interestingly given the current uncertainties over Brexit, the show also hosts a significant selection of non-UK firms, the numbers of which have increased no less than 26% over 2018. For those involved in process control, the Electronics section of the show will perhaps be the primary area of interest. This section has expanded significantly in 32 PECM Issue 36 recent years and is at this moment arguably the most all-inclusive marketplace in the UK for machine building and automation components and sub-assemblies such as encoders, controllers, drives and sensors of all descriptions. RDP Electronics launches a CANbus LVDT and a rotary position sensor at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2019. The CANbus LVDT combines the benefits of absolute, high-repeatability; robust LVDT technology with efficient modern CAN interface protocols. The R360D rotary position sensor uses contactless magnetoresistive sensing to provide a conditioned 4.0 to 20mA output over a full 360° of shaft rotation. BT2000 will introduce the Aceinna MTLT305D Dynamic Tilt Sensor Module. The MTLT305D combines accelerometers, gyroscopes and a temperature sensor with advanced calibration & correction algorithms to provide accurate 3D acceleration, 3D rate and Pitch and Roll measurement in dynamic applications. HepcoMotion returns for Southern 2019 with its plethora of motion solutions, from track systems for robot automation to complete production lines performing multi-assembly tasks. The company’s V-guide system, designed for automation and linear applications, is widely used in the packing industry for applications such as a telescopic pick and place gantry, transport system or multi-lane row divider. Following collaboration with Swiss mechatronics firm, Stäubli, German automation company, Beckhoff, visitors will be able to view a Hepco GFX system with high speed pick and place robots.
