Axi-Tek will use the technology to develop the next generation of safe and rapid backscatter x-ray inspection equipment. The backscatter technique allows operators to take images without having to have access to both sides of an object. The new technology improves the collimator mechanism used to control the x-ray beam. It is lighter and mechanically simpler than existing mechanisms and provides a more consistent beam. The first application (CSI-100) will be for backscatter x-ray inspection of aircraft components, future products will cater for applications as wide-ranging as factory in-line and in-field industrial inspection, to security and bomb disposal. The release of the new ICS ProCell range has changed the way companies are thinking about their welding and assembly processes. The ability to quickly and effortlessly reconfigure component holding fixtures and allow for repurposing for future projects has been key to the ProCell’s popularity. ICS believes progress towards a modern, efficient manufacturing industry will be made by helping companies understand benefits and justify investment. As a free service, ICS has been working closely with many manufacturing companies to advise on the best automation solutions available to them. Concept Trials, Labour Savings, and Throughput Calculations are among many criteria ICS will consider to provide justification towards modern automated manufacturing processes. http://www.ics-robotics.co.uk/ [email protected] CONTROL & AUTOMATION E-SERIES Universal Robots (UR), renowned for being the cobot market leader and pioneer, has introduced its new flagship e-Series line of collaborative robot arms, as part of its mission to bring the benefits of automation to companies of all sizes. The e-Series builds on the original UR cobot with six articulation points and a wide scope of flexibility. Designed to mimic the range of motion of a human arm, the e-Series enables faster development for a wider variety of applications, offers easier programming than ever and meets the very latest ISO safety standards. All UR’s cobots are supported by the UR+ ‘app store for robotics’, which provides easy access to a wide range of approved partners’ grippers, end-effectors and accessories. They can therefore be customized for a variety of scenarios and applications. All products are tested and approved to perfectly integrate with the robot arms, ensuring quick set-up, reliable operation a smooth user experience and simple programming. 90 PECM Issue 34 Robotics & Automation Universal Robot’s full range of cobots will be on display at Robotics & Automation from the 10th -11th October at Arena MK.
