Health & Safety Process safety certificate pilot Slip resistant footwear Health, safety and environmental training specialist RRC International has been chosen by NEBOSH to help it pilot the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management. Because the workplace floor cannot always be relied on to be non-slip and may be contam- inated with water, oil, grease, food or other residues, anti-slip safety shoes are essential in many industries such as construction, food manufacturing, offshore oil and gas and utilities. This new qualification is designed specifically for those with safety responsibilities in the process industries and aims to provide candi- dates with the knowledge and understanding they need to contribute effectively to man- aging process safety risks. The qualification has been developed through a collaboration between NEBOSH and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Wearers of any of RedLion’s 40 different, sporty, high-performance models, which are all classified SRC, meaning they have more than met the specified requirements when tested on both wet ceramic tiles and steel with glycerol, can be confident of their safety. This course is suitable for those who work in process industries all over the world, such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and phar- maceuticals. Given the hazardous nature of these industries, this qualification has been designed to give managers, supervisors and safety professionals working in them the specialist knowledge and understanding they need to keep their staff, sites and surround- ings safe. RRC is running pilot courses in both their London and Dubai training centres. To have maximum slip-resistance, safety footwear should fit properly, be extremely comfortable, and have a flexible sole with an effective tread pattern that grips the floor, no matter what the conditions. The RedLion is designed to fulfil all these criteria with ease. www.rrc.co.uk www.u-power.it 98 PECM Issue 29 The RedLion has a coefficient of friction (CoF) of 0.82, double the industry standard, demonstrating its impressive resistance to slip accidents.
