Thermal Endurance Test Rig at BAE
Systems Relies on Heraeus Infra-Red
System
A purpose-built heating and cooling system from
Heraeus Noblelight is an essential element of a thermal endurance rig
used by BAE Systems’ Advanced Technology Solutions team based at
Towcester to test a range of materials under extreme conditions. Heating
is achieved through twelve 2kW fast response medium wave emitters
and cooling is by means of a cooling module with a cooling fan.
BAE Systems provides some of the world’s most advanced, technology-
led defence, aerospace and security solutions and employs a skilled
workforce of some 83,400 people in over 40 countries.

Miniature CANopen encoders
with redundant Hall sensor
Measurement and sensor technology
specialists FSG have developed the
MH609y-II-CAN series of miniature rotary
encoders for limited installation space. They
are typically used e.g. for measuring axes in joysticks, command units or
driving switches in construction machinery, ships, rail vehicles or other
mobile applications. Despite a small diameter of 22.2 mm and a case
that is less than 39 mm long, the lightweight encoders (80 g) come with
an integrated redundant Hall sensor for detecting 0-360° angles and a
CAN-Bus interface.
