Measurement & Monitoring LumaSense’s new Ratio Pyrometer with Automatic Transition between 1-color and 2-color Measurement The IGAR 6 Advanced employs a unique switchover technology that transitions between modes, creating a very long temperature measurement range. L umaSense Technologies officially introduced the IMPAC® IGAR 6 Advanced, a digital, compact pyrometer with 1-color, 2-color, and Smart operating modes for noncontact temperature measurement in ranges between 100 to 000 C. This product is unique not only because of the wide temperature range, but because of the seamless switchover’ technology,” This technology, known as Smart Mode, allows the pyrometer to measure temperature in 1- color mode at low temperatures (100 to 50 C and then transition to -color mode to provide the advantages of measurements in ratio mode at higher temperatures 0 to 000 C . The automatic, smooth transition from 88 PECM Issue 23 1-color to 2-color measurement occurs between 50 and 0 C. In addition, the pyrometer can operate in 1-color mode 100 to 000 C and -color mode 50 to 000 C . The large temperature range, compact si e, and new Smart Mode make the IGAR 6 Advanced pyrometer ideally suited for many different industrial manufacturing applications such as induction heating, hardening, tempering/annealing, brazing, sintering, vacuum processes, coating, and laser heat treatment. Presented at various events in Europe and USA, show visitors previewed the instrument last month and raved about the large temperature range, the different operating modes, and other features such as the automatic emissivity determination and optional line optics. These additional features make this instrument unique and create opportunities to measure processes not considered previously and those not measured with appropriate accuracy.
