The SPS/IPC/Drives 2015 fair provided a perfect platform to visit the CLPA and find out how it will support the Industry 4.0 needs of the future. Since it was first formally announced at 2011’s Hannover fair, Industry 4.0 has gained more and more momentum to the point where most manufacturing companies are implementing or planning to implement systems that will embrace its core principles. Industry 4.0 has been defined as the combination of “cyber-physical systems” with the Internet of Things (IoT). In practical terms, this means systems that combine mechanical and software based features communicating with each other via Internet based technologies. Recently, the IoT has spawned an industrial variant, the Industrial IoT (IIoT), which emphasises the need for real time performance in industrial applications. CLPA Europe General Manager, John Browett, says: “It is difficult to envisage Industry 4.0 without a communications technology such as CCLink IE. Connectivity through the whole value chain is an admirable goal, but it does assume that vast quantities of data can be handled efficiently and accurately and that devices from many different manufacturers are able to communicate freely over a common network. Fortunately CC-Link IE provides exactly that capability. We encourage people to contact us and learn more about how we can help them.” More details are at www.cc-link-g2a.com. Air, Gas & Odour Control A-Gas launches new ‘mobile-friendly’ website A-Gas, the leading independent global exper ts in the supply and full lifecycle management of speciality chemicals and gases, have launched a new group website tailor-made for mobile devices. At the touch of a button this allows users easy access to the extensive A-Gas range of products and services and the latest industry information. A-Gas supply refrigerants, blowing agents, industrial gases, halon and fire protection agents to markets worldwide. The group’s International Brand and Marketing Manager Hayley Russell said: “A-Gas is reflecting changes in the industry which have led to smartphones and tablets playing an increasingly important role. Engineers have a requirement to access technical data while on the move and the demand to access work-related information and applications quickly and efficiently has grown. “The ability to engage with the workplace through mobile technology is a must and our new website reflects this. Key data, such as refrigerant pressure temperature charts, will be only a click away.” In addition, a new website for A-Gas Americas has also been launched and is available via the group site or direct at www.agasamericas.com Over the coming months the group website will grow to incorporate A-Gas operations across the world with bespoke versions launched in Australia, South Africa, Europe and Asia. A number of new features will be available across some regional websites, such as a find a supplier tool which will enable customers to locate their nearest A-Gas distributor. The regulatory zone, which allows customers to keep up to date with the latest regulation changes, will also be introduced and there will be information on health and safety via Best Practice Guidance available through the website’s resource centre. In addition, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all A-Gas products will be available to download directly from the website. To visit the new A-Gas group website go to www.agas.com 54 PECM Issue 19
