Charlotte Ballet
We are so fortunate to have North
Carolina’s oldest professional dance
company call Charlotte home. Since its
very beginning, CB (formerly North
Carolina Dance Theatre) has presented
more than just the traditional full-scale
ballets but also brings cutting-edge
choreography. Its world-class dancers
are artists as well as athletes. As a
former director of the ballet school,
I have seen the company grow to a
national force under Artistic Director
Patricia McBride. (Insider tip: If you
can only see one show, get tickets to the
Innovative Works.)

EAT
Potts Chocolate (photo below)
Potts opened one of the first microbrew-
eries on the East Coast years ago. With
a knack for scientific formulas, they
create palatable perfection. Chocolate
beans come from countries like Costa
Rica, Venezuela and Madagascar. They
offer their own vanilla extracts and use
honey from NC mountain beekeepers.
If you’re looking to mix it up and try
something educational and fun, grab
some friends for a Potts Chocolate Tast-
ing, where they pair chocolates with
local beer, wine and/or local cheeses.
Salted caramel is my personal favorite.

Honorable mention:
Concert series at Reid’s Fine Foods
(SouthPark)

Gather your closest 50 friends and grab
a cold drink for the concert series on
the patio at Reid’s. These take you back
to your college band party days with
all of the music from “our” time.
