On the Go with Jan Strimple
For what’s happening in Dallas:
Urbandaddy and Culturemap Dallas
Place to see artwork: Dallas’s Arts
District, of course! Our Dallas Museum
of Art warmly welcomes visitors at
no cost. Within two blocks of the
DMA is The Crow Collection of Asian
Art and The Nasher Sculpture Center.
Grab lunch at Lark in the Park or from
one of the many food trucks in the
Arts Area; no wheels needed for a
delightful day in Big D!
Two of our hidden gems are the
Meadows Museum (one of the most
comprehensive collections of Spanish
Art outside of Spain) and The Museum
of Biblical Arts. Both of these smaller
museums are within five minutes of
North Park Center and are sure to
satiate those with either of these
specific interests!
Books: The Book Doctor in Bishop Arts
is a great book restoration shoppe that
can refurbish and bind family bibles
and repair your treasures!
Funky places you like to visit:
Dolly Python is a must if you’re into
Vintage. It’s the first on the list destination of film and fashion stylists
and fashion designers, and that come
through Dallas.
Cowboy Cool in West Village for boots,
hats and the cooler side of western style.
Sounds odd, but the Dallas Historical
Society hosts great cemetery tours. It’s
a different way to learn about both
the hysterical and the historical aspects
of our city! n
