INSPIRATION
“My husband and I were so fortunate to have help and assistance from
friends and family,” Linton recalled.
“They raised money through a golf
tournament to help us pay for childcare for our children who were at
home while we were at the hospital.”
It was in those long hours at the hospital, and seeing and befriending other
parents and families, that inspired
Linton to create Heroes for Children.
“We would be at the hospital for hours
and I would see other families bringing
their children who had to wait with
them as their brother or sister had a
test or a treatment,” said Linton. “Their
parents had no way to pay for additional
child care.”
Talking with hospital social workers,
Linton learned that many families need
financial assistance for all the other
expenses in their lives, and that there
wasn’t an agency to support these
families. There was a need for an organization that could provide financial
assistance to families battling cancer.
