PARTY MASCARA This category is relatively new, and usually involves a lash-
building fiber coat and then a top coat that’s like a traditional mascara. The
results are pure glamour—it looks like you’ve used faux lashes without all the
skill that’s required to do that. I am also sensitive to lash glue, which makes my
eyes red and irritated—not a pretty look when you are rocking fake lashes.

LASH SERUMS This product innovation can help you
grow longer lashes. Some are available only at medispas or physicians’ offices, while others are sold
over-the-counter. The real deal is that some of these
work. I’ve used Latisse, and it does grow some crazy
long lashes. The downside is the cost (over $100 a
bottle) and the possible side effects. While Latisse
did not change my eye color at all, it did leave me
with purply-reddish lids from time to time. It didn’t
bother me, but I did get lazy and stop using it. The
other serum people rave about is Revitalash. According to my beauty pals, this over-the-counter product
does work and can also help with thinning brows.
