REPORT FROM ADA On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the American Dental Association (ADA), I would like to welcome you to Pennsylvania’s Dental Meeting. This past year has seen your national association continuing to pursue the goals and objectives of our Strategic Plan, “Members First 2020.” Its emphasis is to place the needs of the individual member-dentist ahead of those of the organization and to provide valuable products and services in a changing environment for our profession. ANDREW J. KWASNY, DMD, MSD The key question is how to provide this value when its definition means something different to each of our members. The ADA will launch an entirely new communication effort that will emphasize the different “personas” that comprise its membership. At each stage of our professional lives, there will be products and services tailored to that individual’s specific needs. There will be programs that are based on the data accumulated through actual engagements with our members that directly respond to their requests and demonstrate a higher level of personal service than ever before. The ADA will now have the ability to investigate innovative programs in a much more timely manner through a specific reserve account that was approved by the 2015 ADA House of Delegates. The ideas generated through various business opportunities and the input from our members will be used to develop pilot programs in targeted areas of the country. The lessons learned from these innovative studies will generate valuable information on future services to be provided to all of our members. The ADA continues to work closely with state and local dental societies toward organizational capacity that is consistent and efficient through the use of a single data management software system and branded websites. Now that this communication ability has been established, there will be opportunities such as customization of the membership application process and an individual portfolio on your mobile device that is tailored toward the services and products that only you choose to utilize. The association will continue to investigate and collaborate on the issues of dental delivery models, licensure portability and the enhancement of the ADA member brand to our patients. We continue to be the most trusted and favored profession, and our entire organizational structure will seek to continue that tradition for all of our members in the future.
