there will be many other topics that will weave themselves into the
discussion. The IONS meetings are open to everyone with all points
of view. Visitors are welcome!
The library’s Book Discussion Group will have its monthly meeting
on Tuesday, Nov. 17: 9:30 – 10:45am. The group is reading, The
Education of Little Tree, by Forrest Carter. This is a story of an
orphaned boy who is adopted by his Cherokee grandmother and
half-Cherokee grandfather in the mountains of Tennessee during the
Great Depression. His grandparents teach him how to survive in the
mountains, how to respect nature in the Cherokee way, and how to
read, until he is taken away from the by whites for schooling and
assimilating into white culture. The library has copies of the book
available for checkout. So, come in to the library to pick up a copy of
the book, and then come for the discussion. Light refreshments will
be provided for this fun and lively event.
