Free Embry-Riddle Aviation History Program
Finnish Pilots Prevailed Over Russians in
1939/40 Winter War
A Mouse That Ate an Elephant; Russo Finnish War in the Air is a multimedia Aviation History Program presented by military historian Ron
Anderson at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Davis Auditorium in
Prescott, November 18, at 7 PM.
Speaker Ron Anderson, a
military historian since 1958
and a member of KEV 054
Finnish WWII Historical Group,
attained a B. S. degree from
California State University in
Business Administration. He
served in the U. S. Navy during
the Vietnam era as a shipboard
navigator. Following his time
in the Navy, Anderson worked in the medical industry in pharmaceuticals
and clinical laboratory marketing until moving to Prescott about 18 year
ago. Now a Managing Broker for Century 21-Arizona West in Prescott,
Ron Anderson also serves as the National Marketing Chairman, United
States Section, International Police Association and as a member of the
Association of Former Intelligence Officers, USA. Locally he is a volunteer
Law Enforcement Liaison Officer with Yavapai County Emergency
Management Department and volunteer Patrolman with the U. S. Forest
Service for Prescott National Forest.
Hear the fascinating story of how Finnish pilots prevailed over the Russian
Air Force and learn how the Finns kept the Soviets from defeating and
occupying Finland. The Finns’ primary fighter aircraft during the Winter
War of 1939/40 was the Dutch Fokker D-XXI, which was a maneuverable
but slow, fixed landing gear, fabric-covered fuselage aircraft. Their most
modern aircraft was the British-designed Bristol Blenheim bomber. A total
of 114 combat aircraft comprised The Finnish Air Force. By contrast the
Russian Air Force had 3,880 aircraft engaged at this time.
Everyone is welcome. Seating is first come, first served and doors
open at 6:30 PM with the presentation beginning promptly at 7 PM. For
additional information about this free, public event, telephone professor
Nick Manderfield at (928) 777-6985.

Cards for Christmas
In October, we made three, lovely fall cards using some of Close to my
Hearts new paper packet Sangria. I also held my first Christmas Card
Workshop that turned out so fun! “Thank you” to all of you helped make it
such a success! So for the month of November, we will continue making
Christmas cards per request. We will be making three cards using the
White Pines paper packet from CTMH(Close to my Heart). The dates for
the card classes are: Monday, November 9th and Saturday, November
14th. The cost of the class is $12 and includes all the materials needed
to make the three cards. For more info you can go to my blog www.
lavenderosecreations.blogspot.com, or email me at lavenderose.2@
gmail.com. You don’t have to be an experienced stamper to attend. I walk
you through all the steps. It’s a fun and a great way to meet other women
in our community. Hope to see you at one of the classes.
