A Taste of Wine Thanksgiving Wine November was the ninth month of the ancient Roman calendar. When January and February were added to the Roman calendar, Nancy Biggs November retained its name (from the Latin novem meaning “nine”). November is a month of spring in the Southern Hemisphere and autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. In Ireland, November 1 is regarded as the first day of winter.
