POET’S STAGE - A Forum for Local Poets
THE BEST
The best music I ever heard
was in an alley
tail end
of a three-day party.
He was black mojo,
wine spiked with sunshine,
man.
He exploded on a finger slidin’ guitar.
He was so far out
He was in,
you know,
harmony.
So sweet a melody
So sweet to be so free.
A sound so groovy
it set us moving,
A laughing
and a dancing
in the flickering firelight.
The best music I ever heard
were two people
singing
in harmony
communing
with no harm to me
or any one.
The best music I ever heard
was a bird.

The best music I ever heard
was in a forest
by the campfire tree.
Among the richest of the poorest
we sat in a circle
comparing ourselves deeply,
so completely
when, so sweetly,
a soft hum-de-hum
from behind a stump
came a harmonica
so smooth
it made me move.
The Prescott Country Club News Monthly
magazine will be featuring local poets and we
would like your poetic submission.
