I
have often been asked how I found the courage to follow my dreams. It is a question that is very close to my heart. I feel that my life as an artist is an organic one. As such, it is evolving and ongoing. It is not about arriving, but about being. So the immediate answer to this question is, I am in an ongoing, day-to-day process, learning and discovering a deepening courage to live my dreams.
However, I can offer what I have learned so far in finding the courage to follow my bliss. Through the recording of my first record when I was in a co-founded band, prior to my solo career, I would literally go into the vocal booth repeating the three C’s: “I choose Courage, Confidence and Commitment.” This helped me greatly in overcoming the self-deprecating
