Issue Thirteen
April 2018
Protecting your loved ones...
Cure Kids is New Zealand’s
leading child health
research charity with
a vision for a healthy
childhood for everyone.
Partners Life shares that
vision and we are proud to
align ourselves as a Cure
Kids partner.
Since forming in 1971, they have
funded more than $40 million in
research, which has enabled vast
improvements in the health of
children – extending, improving and
saving the lives of kids both here
and around the world.
If you are reading this issue of Partners Papers, chances are it is because you have one or more insurance products
with us to protect yourself and your loved ones. We don’t tend to talk about financial matters with those around us
so you may have no idea if your loved ones have taken steps to protect themselves.
One of our own employees found out too late that someone he loved was not insured and is now watching the repercussions unfold.
You can read his story inside and we hope it creates a conversation with your loved ones urging them to make sure they have protected
themselves adequately. It may be awkward, even morbid, but that is nothing compared to the sense of regret when it is too late. We
have no qualms reminding someone we love to buckle up when they climb into a car – taking steps to be financially prepared for every
eventuality is no different.
We also have some interesting reading on the nature of risk and why your doctor and your insurer sometimes disagree
when it comes to your health. Speaking of your health, Partners Life is thrilled to be sponsoring the BODY WORLDS Vital
exhibition coming to New Zealand starting on 23rd April. You can find more details inside. Happy reading!
The idea behind Partners Papers is for the Partners Life team to be able
to talk to you about the workings of life insurance in general, as well
as the philosophies unique to Partners Life. It provides us with a forum
to answer customer questions, address customer concerns and explain
why we do what we do. You will not find us advertising any products
directly to you in Partners Papers. We respect the relationship you have
with your adviser and we understand that the decisions around which
products are best suited to your needs and how much cover you need
should be decided between you and your adviser. Instead we simply
want to bring you up to speed with some of the detail around how life
insurance products work which you may not otherwise be fully aware
of, as well as sharing the stories of some of our clients with you and
finally letting you know the role Partners Life is playing in our New
Zealand community. As each edition of Partners Papers is received by
both long-standing customers as well as brand new customers for
whom this edition is their very first, we would encourage you to check
out the previous editions of Partners Papers on our website, as you may
just find we have already answered your questions in previous articles.
Happy reading everyone.
Cure Kids is the only charity in New
Zealand that funds research across
a broad spectrum of child health.
They have funded, or are currently
funding, research investigating
better treatments and cures for
inherited heart conditions, cystic
fibrosis, childhood cancers, sudden
unexpected death in infancy
(SUDI), stillbirth, burns, child and
adolescent mental health, and
many others.
Thousands of children and their
families are living well, as a result
of life-saving research funded
by Cure Kids. The reality remains
however, that there is still so much
work to be done, to address the
alarming health statistics affecting
our young people.
“We’re thrilled Partners Life are
supporting Cure Kids. The money
raised through exciting events like
the Partners Life Race Day will
fund vital lifesaving research so
that everyone can enjoy a healthy
childhood.”
Frances Benge, Cure Kids CEO
