Meet Janet Doty, Resident of the Month
Rosalyn “Janet” Doty was born May
2, 1941, in Springfield, Missouri to Al-
vin and Sula Rook. Alvin worked for
Kraft Food Company for thirty years,
while Sula stayed home to raise Janet
and her sisters, Barbara and Patricia.
Janet grew up in Springfield, where
she attended Parkview High School.
Janet chose not to go to college, but
instead worked hard to be self-
sufficient. She worked at the Polk
County Library as a bookkeeper for
thirteen years. Janet was previously
married and has a daughter named
Delana. Janet has two granddaughters
and one great-granddaughter. She has
enjoyed raising her cats. She had a cat named Sally for 17 years, and for the
past three years, she had a cat named Beau.
Janet loves to garden and walk around outside. She also enjoyed crocheting
and painting ceramics. At Parkview, she spends time on her computer, play-
ing games, and reading books. She loves mystery novels, especially James Pat-
terson’s writing. She loves spending time with her family when they come to
visit.
Janet came to Parkview in January 2020. When asked her favorite part about
living here, she said, “The staff is incredible and people are always willing to
help. And playing Bingo with the friends I’ve made here.”

Resident of the Month!
