Growing up, Sherry was eldest of four children, having two 2 younger sisters and a brother. As a minister in the Disciples of Christ church, Sherry’s father would accept calls to minister to different congregations. Because of this, the Malotte family moved often. This didn’t seem to bother Sherry though, she loved experiencing new places and meeting new people. In her lifetime, She has lived in several states including: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and Missouri. While attending high school in Tulsa, Sherry enrolled in a newly opened school of Cosmetology and was the first to complete the program. Upon her graduation from high school, Sherry attend North Eastern University in Tahlequah, Okla., where she earned her degree in History. After college, Sherry moved to St. Joseph, Mo., where she worked as a cosmetologist. While working in a local salon, she became friends with a client who was a professional dog handler. After attending her first dog show, Sherry was hooked. For nearly four years she ran the Dormac Kennel and showed dogs, before returning to Tulsa. Upon her return, Sherry worked as the head of Administrative Accounting for Coopers and Lybrand. In 1982, Sherry welcomed her son, Christopher, into the world. In order to be closer to her family, Sherry and Christopher moved to Springfield, Mo. She started working for Stinger Pendleton Investments as a book keeper and accountant. Today, Christopher and his wife, Erin, continue to live in Springfield with their son, Bennett. After years doctors visits, Sherry was diagnosed with M.S. and was no longer able to work. She continued living in Springfield with her son and their dog, Charlie. After the passing of her mother, Sherry and Chris moved into the family home. They remained in the family home for several years before moving into an apartment. While living in the apartment, Sherry had a serious fall which resulted in a broken ankle and other injuries. What is your job at PV? Maintenance Helper How long have you worked at PVHCF? 7 months What is your favorite thing about Parkview? Caring for the residents and helping provide a safe and comfortable home. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work? I enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking and spending time with my family. In February 2012, Sherry made Parkview Healthcare Facility her new home. –“My favorite part about Parkview is all of the people,” Sherry said with a smile. “Especially the staff!” Sherry enjoys reading and watching television. She loves spending as much time as she can enjoying the outdoors. When she isn’t reading, she can be found working word search puzzles or playing cards (Phase 10) and trivia games. Currently, Sherry serving as the PVHCF Resident Council President. Congratulations, Sherry on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month for March!
