Growing up, Kay had two sisters; Darlene and Kathy (deceased). At a young age, Kay and her family moved from Richland, Mo. to a farm in Illinois. While growing up, her mother worked in the home and Kay’s father worked as a farmer and also spent several years working as a grain elevator operator. The family eventually returned to Missouri, to be closer grandparents. Kay fondest childhood memories involved spending time with her sisters. Kay shared how they all enjoyed being outdoors, riding their bikes down country roads and visiting with friends. Kay graduated from Petersburg High School in 1962. After graduation, she continued her education by attending college at Hannibal La Grange in Hannibal Mo., where she her Associates degree. She then attended Temple Bible College in Tennessee. In 1972, Kay earned her degree in Biblical Studies before returning to Richland to be closer to her family. Kay has always had an interest in education. At a young age, she learned sign language and has enjoyed teaching others. Her passion for education eventually lead her to Drury University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Education. What is your job at PV? L.P.N. How long have you worked at PVHCF? 10 years What is your favorite thing about Parkview? Parkview is like being a part of a family. My residents are very special to me. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work? I love to spend time with my kids. Brynna is 3 and Nolan is 14 months. We love to play outdoors. Kay has always been an avid reading of the Bible and takes great pleasure in teaching scripture classes. As member of Grace Baptist church for more than 30 years, Kay uses her knowledge of the Bible and sign-language and acts as interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired members of her church. Kay is very musically talented and enjoys playing hymns on both the piano and organ. Kay recently moved into Parkview Healthcare Facility and says “ I have enjoyed all of my newly found friends. Parkview is such a good place to be. Everyone is so friendly and I enjoy the daily activities.” Congratulations Kay on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility’s March Resident of the Month and we are happy you are here!
