Darlene’s father was from Pleasant Staff of the Month 1 Hope and her mother from Fair Grove. Her father was in Activity Highlights 2 the Air Force and her mother was a housewife. Darlene has four siblings; Denise, David, DeWayne and Diana. Calendar of Events 3 Growing up, Darlene moved a lot since her father was in the Air Force. When she was just 9 months old, she SCU Calendar 4 lived in Athens, Greece, until she was 2 ½ years old. Resident Photos 5 When the family moved back to the United States, she lived in Georgia, Washington State, and Louisiana. When Resident Birthdays 6 her father had to be overseas, her family lived in Tin New Residents 6 Town, Mo., where they lived in a trailer on her grandparent’s property. Darlene attended many schools before Discharges 6 going to Buffalo from seventh through 12th grade where she graduated in 1984. She joined the Army in 1985, but Meet: Destiny Steele was injured in basic training. After the Army, Darlene moved to Bolivar. Staff of the Month Over the years, Darlene worked as a cashier at General Express, which is now Woods Express. She also drove a school bus for 10 years when her son, Cody, was in second grade until his junior year of high school. She then worked as a CMH Health Transit Driver for one year. Darlene is very proud of her son, Cody, and even keeps an eighth grade framed drawing of his in her drawer. She remains very close to her best friend, Bonzel. The two have been friends since middle school. Bonzel is currently living in Kansas City, but has plans to move to be closer to Darlene. Some of Darlene’s hobbies in the past were quilting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and walking. Darlene loves animals and her favorite are cats, horses, wolves. She is also a long-time fan of the Dallas Cowboys - since her childhood. Darlene has been at Parkview for two months and one of her favorite things about Parkview is her roommate, Mamie Percival. Mamie made her feel very welcome and she feels blessed to have her as a roommate. They describe each other as sisters and share many laughs and memories. Mamie even grew up with Darlene’s son’s great grandparents. Darlene has learned that some of the residents who live at Parkview also knew her What is your job at PV?
