Cecil Staff of the Month 1 was child number seven of eight, having three broth- Activity Highlights 2 ers and four sisters. Cecil’s mom was a homemaker and his dad was a veterinarian, mostly taking care of Calendar of Events 3 farm animals. Cecil spent his childhood years doing SCU Calendar 4 chores and working hard around the farm. His father passed away at a very young age and because of Resident Photos 5 this, Cecil quit high school in order to work outside Resident Birthdays 6 the home and help his mother financially. New Residents 6 Cecil joined the Army when he turned 18 and Discharges 6 served for two years. Shortly after, he met Sarah and the couple married on Oct. 5, 1958. The couple Meet: Olivia Hill relocated to the Kansas City area after getting married living in both Inde- pendence and Raytown, Mo. Cecil worked as a mechanic at Loma Vista Bowl in Kansas City, Mo. for more than 20 years. In 1981, Cecil and Sarah started their own Plumbing and Sewer business, serving both the Raytown and Kan- sas City areas. Cecil has two daughters, four granddaughters, and four great- grandchildren. Cecil has worked hard his entire life, but did take some time to enjoy fishing and hunting. He enjoyed taking his family camping, and he and his wife would enjoy traveling to Branson in the fall to celebrate their anniver- sary. Cecil has always been social and enjoys visiting with others. I have loved getting to know all the great people here. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work? I am a senior at SBU. I love drinking coffee and reading books!
