Meet Judy Gladden, Resident of the Month
Judy Gladden was born Feb. 2, 1946, to
Charlie and Betty Rohrbach in California,
Missouri. Charlie worked for the railroad un-
til he retired, while Betty worked as a secre-
tary for a poultry company. Judy grew up in
Kansas City, Missouri where she went to
elementary and middle school. During this
time she spent time with family and would
paint her grandmother’s fingernails each
week for a quarter. Judy moved to Raytown
South High School where she was the first
graduating class for the school.
After school, Judy worked as a secretary,
waitress, seamstress, and as a nurse. Dur-
ing this time she met Marvin “Dale” Gladden
who she would later marry in October 1965.
While at a Drive-In Theater, Dale tried to
park his car next to Judy but a Carhop’s tray
blocked the spot. When Judy got out to
move it for him they started talking and their
relationship grew from there. Dale worked
as a laborer for companies such as Meeks and MFA.
Together the couple had three boys Roy, Charlie, and Danny, as well as two
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They were married for 15 wonderful
years and when asked her favorite part she said, “Getting to spend my time with
him.”
Growing up, there were mostly boys in Judy’s neighborhood so she enjoyed play-
ing baseball, fishing, and camping. Every now and then she was even able to get the
boys to play dolls with her. As an adult her favorite activities were painting and doing
crafts. When she wasn’t working, her favorite things were to spend time with family
and at Lindley Creek Baptist Church. That church is special to her because that is
where she was saved at 20 years old and she was baptized in Lindley Creek itself.
Judy came to Parkview in February 2018. When asked her favorite part of living
here, she said the staff and friends she has made here. Congratulations, Judy, on
being chosen as the Parkview Health Care Facility’s Resident of the Month!
