Meet Catherine Robertson, Resident of the Month Catherine Robertson was born on July 3, 1927 in Springfield, Mo., to Joseph and Blanche Dunn. Catherine has two brothers; Paul, who is two years older and David, who is 16 years younger. “I have always been very close with my brothers,” says Catherine. “To David, I often acted like a second mother. And I speak to Paul and his wife often.” Some of Catherine’s favorite childhood memories were going with her father to the movie theater. They loved watching western movies together. Catherine’s , 18, love for the movies would eventually lead her to meet Thomas Robertson, 32, at the movie theater. At the time, Thomas had been serving in the Army when they met, but was being treated at the Army Hospital. After a few months of dating, the couple were married just on Aug. 5, 1945, in a small, outdoor ceremony. The couple have been blessed with two daughters; Bonnie of Pleasant Hope, and Mary of Morrisville, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family lived on a 2 acre farm in Strafford that had pygmy goats, pot-belly pigs and calves. Catherine shared that she loved working with the animals and raising their girls. Throughout her life, Catherine has always enjoyed taking care of animals and gardening. Her yard was always full of flowers and she grew lots of vegetables. According to Catherine, Romeo, her dog of 15 years was always the “love of her life.” Her children would joke and say that “she treated Romeo better than them.” Catherine is happy to call Parkview Healthcare Facility her home. She said that the aides are brilliant and everyone here is so sweet. She enjoys the kindness and closeness of the people, and that it really feels like a family here. She also enjoys Kay, her roommate and close friend. Congratulations, Catherine on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month for April!
