City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department
The plan is developed around six core goals and the underlying
improvement areas necessary to ensure Parks & Recreation fulfills
its critical mission:

In April 2018, City of Port St. Lucie Parks
& Recreation staff, guided by consultant,
Barth Associates, met for a day-long staff
retreat to develop the department’s first-
ever Strategic Business Plan.

RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Port St. Lucie boasts almost 40 unique
parks
and
recreational
facilities,
all offering endless opportunities
to relax, play, exercise, learn and
to enjoy the Florida sunshine.
The Parks & Recreation Department
is also proud to facilitate a variety of
special events that our residents look
forward to year-round. In connection
with these events and other activities
sponsored by the department, the
department has several great sponsorship
and volunteer opportunities available
to businesses and individuals alike.

These goals define the Parks & Recreation Department’s top priorities
in delivering services to the City. Objectives lay out pathways to
achieve each goal. These objectives are designed to be distinct and
measurable, yet broad enough to allow for flexibility as this plan
evolves to meet new priorities. Initiatives detail the Department’s
key projects and programs that directly support these goals and
objectives.

FY 2018-2019 STRATEGIC GOALS,
OBJECTIVES AND KEY ACTIONS
As conceptualized during the April Staff Retreat,
the following five goals were defined:
Goal 1: Analyze and strengthen existing parks
operations for optimal performance
Goal 2: Improve current programs and events to
increase the number of visitors and participation
in Parks & Recreation programs
Goal 3: Improve existing parks and facilities and
effectively plan for future needs
Goal 4: Advance programs, events, and facilities
through innovation
Goal 5: Invest in human capital
