Parks & Recreation Annual Report FY 17/18 | Page 21
The Parks & Recreation Department has also been diligently
working on creating new recreational opportunities for
residents and guests, by providing new facilities that
facilitate the residents pursuit of culture and gathering in
a safe and enjoyable setting. On June 16, 2018, that vision
became a reality when the Parks & Recreation Department
celebrated the completion of Woodland Trails Neighborhood
Park located in the southwest corner of the City. Funding for
this project was made possible through revenues generated
by the City’s waste recycling program. Amenities at the park
include open space areas for soccer/football, a restroom,
pavilion and picnic area, fitness stations, playground with
rubberized surfacing, parking, and the City’s second public
dog park.
Upcoming park projects for FY 2018-2019, will include the
addition of a new dog park at McChesney Park, Design/Build
of Winterlakes Park, expanded parking lot at Jessica Clinton
Park, upgraded lighting system and security cameras at Jessica
Clinton Park, security cameras at Veterans Park at Rivergate,
pedestrian trails at Woodland Trails Park, and the replacement
of the baseball concession building at Whispering Pines Park.
