During fiscal year 2017-2018, the Parks & Recreation
Department continued to implement strategies of the
City’s Strategic Plan, to create more opportunities
for an active lifestyle. The Parks & Recreation
Department leveraged the annual appropriations to
our Capital Outlay Budget by utilizing Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding as well
as operational savings, to refurbish many of the
facilities throughout the City’s parks system. An
estimated $1,925,000 was allocated for facility repair
and improvements. Such improvements included
roof replacements, restroom building renovations and
replacement, fencing improvements, baseball dugout
replacements, new pavilions, parks security camera
systems, playground replacements, and lighting
improvements to sports fields and parking lots.
