Parks & Recreation Annual Report FY 17/18 | Page 18

The mission of the Saints Golf Course is to provide the citizens of Port St. Lucie with a quality, competitively priced, and self-sustaining golf facility for players of all abilities. Our clubhouse, practice facilities, and golf course are designed to and will continually offer the “best value” in public golf on the Treasure Coast. With that mission in mind, The Saints Golf Course has just completed its 16th year of operation under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Department and the City of Port St. Lucie. Golf course operations are comprised of two divisions. The Operations Division (7251) has the responsibility of welcoming and providing superior personal service to each and every one of our guests as we continue to average more than 50,000 rounds each year. Being comprised of professional shop staff, hospitality cart attendants, play coordinators, and player assistants, the operations team all work together to meet our mission. The Maintenance Division (7250) has the enormous task of providing excellent playing conditions throughout the golf course and also the entire 185 acre property. Manicured tees, fairways and greens are provided to our players as we continue to raise the bar for both our expectations as well as those of our customers. As a result, we are proud to say that for the seventh year in a row, the Saints Golf Course has finished the fiscal year without any subsidy from the general fund. The Saints is grateful for its continuing partnerships with local junior golf entities. The Saints gladly plays host to two local high school golf teams and The First Tee of the Treasure Coast. For many years, the Port St. Lucie High School golf team, both boys and girls, have called the Saints their home course. More recently, we have also played host to the Treasure Coast High School team. There is also The First Tee, which runs weekly junior clinics on Saturday mornings and offers expanded instructional opportunities during the summer. We look forward to continuing these relationships and further expanding the ways in which we can reach out and form connections through the game of golf with the children and young people of our community. The Saints’ beautiful 13,000 square foot clubhouse is also home to our contracted restaurateur, the 19th Hole Grill, and includes the Sandpiper banquet room. The grill is open for lunch and dinner. Along with a full liquor bar and nightly entertainment, the Grill also has a screened-in patio which makes for a great locale to relax and enjoy a beverage while overlooking the practice green. The 3,000 square foot Sandpiper banquet room has been repainted and updated with new carpet, making it perfect for hosting meetings, dances, weddings and more. The 19th Hole recently renewed their lease which will see our relationship continue until 2019. THE SAINTS GOLF COURSE 15
