S he’s one of those rare beauties, the kind people slow down for, crane their necks to see. Resplendent on her hilltop perch, she’s a real lady — a Queen Anne-style Victorian Painted Lady, to be exact. Built in 1897 by Weatherford hardware merchant William E. Tate who’d come out from Tennessee, the “house” at 808 S. Lamar St. is an architectural marvel at the top of a lovely terraced hill about eight blocks from the Parker County Courthouse. A bit over five acres of Tate’s original 70-80 acres remain with the property, which the Tates sold after calling it home for 19 years.
