PARKER COUNTY AG Lauren Sharer Weatherford High School S ixteen-year-old Lauren Sharer followed her cousins (yep, all of them) as well as her sister into the world of FFA. It’s a family tradition. They were all highly involved in the organization while growing up, and Lauren wanted to see what it was all about. Now, three years later, her favorite part about being in FFA is the people that she has had the opportunity to meet. “I have met so many amazing people who are welcoming and so unbelievably kind,” she said. Being in FFA has taught her many important life skills, but also a lot about leadership and teamwork. She knows how important it is to be a part of a team of people working together to make something really work. During her time in FFA she has held two offices: student advisor and reporter. She has received both her Greenhand and Chapter degrees in the short time she has participated in FFA. Though she has never gotten the chance to show by herself, Lauren gets to participate by helping others show. The biggest inspiration in her life has been her mom, because no matter how hard life gets, her mom never gives up, and always seems to accomplish the impossible. Besides being a part of FFA, Lauren is involved in the health science programs at the high school; and when she grows up, she wants to go into either orthopedics or trauma surgery.
