BY MARSHA BROWN AND MEL W RHODES PHOTOS BY STEVE SCHILLIO A s children, most of us are pretty bold when it comes to dreaming big about our futures, at least until it comes time to work to turn those dreams into a reality. If you ask a kindergartner about his or her career aspirations, chances are you’ll be stunned by the ambitions reflected in the responses you get. Answers usually range from ballerina to doctor, lawyer, astronaut, pro football player or president. This writer was once told by third-grader that she wanted to be a mermaid.
