town.”
Sawyer stays busy on social
media, reaching out to her 31,500
followers on Twitter and posting over
2,000 tweets, Instagram and Facebook posts in her spare time.
She’s a laid-back cowgirl. Accord-
ing to Sawyer, “I like relaxing, I like
the outdoors. I’m easy to please. I like
new opportunities.”
As one of Parker County Today
Magazine’s Bachelorettes, Sawyer is
representing the Parker County Committee on Aging for her charity.

Sawyer Burmeister is a cowgirl at
heart and said she, “Got on a horse
before I could actually walk.”
Horses are important to Sawyer
and that’s understandable since she’s
won the APHA Youth World Cutting
Horse Championship twice – before
she celebrated her 18th birthday.
She has also qualified for the last
two AQHA World Shows, but an ACL
injury took her out of the running this
season. She was hoping to qualify for
the third year in a row.
She recently graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree
in criminal justice, but upon moving
back to Weatherford she began working at Edward Jones in Weatherford
with financial advisor Leon Henry.
She’s enjoying the world of high
finance and would like to become a
financial advisor herself after earning
her license.
When she’s not counting dollars
and cents, Sawyer is happiest outside
on the ranch. Her mother Shelly Burmeister Mowery is a member of the
National Cowgirl Hall of Fame as one
of the top equine sports broadcasters
for pro rodeos and national cutting
horse events.
Sawyer has followed her mother’s
footsteps into the rodeo world, and
has ridden in the Wrangler National
Finals Rodeo representing South Point
Casino in Las Vegas five times.
Asked what her favorite horse’s
name was, she said that there are
more than 180 horses on their ranch,
so it’s hard to choose a favorite.
She enjoys travel and visiting Las
Vegas among other places, but she
likes to visit there most in December
when it’s cooler.
“I love traveling anywhere I can
take in a new culture. I’m a government-history type of person,” she
said.
Her favorite trip so far was to
Jamaica, and she would like to someday travel throughout Europe.
She’s lived in Hillsboro, Stephenville, Cresson; recently relocating
back home in Weatherford where she
says, “I like the morals and the values
of the town. It’s big enough that you
don’t know everybody. It’s a big small
