SEPTEMBER 2015 PA R K E R C O U N T Y T O D AY Sawyer Burmeister is a cowgirl at heart and said she, “Got on a horse before I could actually walk.” Horses are important to Sawyer and that’s understandable since she’s won the APHA Youth World Cutting Horse Championship twice – before she celebrated her 18th birthday. She has also qualified for the last two AQHA World Shows, but an ACL injury took her out of the running this season. She was hoping to qualify for the third year in a row. Asked what her favorite horse’s name was, she said that there are more than 180 horses on their ranch, so it’s hard to choose a favorite. She enjoys travel and visiting Las Vegas among other places, but she likes to visit there most in December when it’s cooler. “I love traveling anywhere I can take in a new culture. I’m a government-history type of person,” she said.  Her favorite trip so far was to Jamaica, and she would like to someday travel throughout Europe. She’s lived in Hillsboro, Stephenville, Cresson; recently relocating back home in Weatherford where she says, “I like the morals and the values of the town. It’s big enough that you don’t know everybody. It’s a big small 51
