M
oe Headrick, 67, self-described as a lifelong cowboy, is
someone who grew up the “cowboy way.” His work with
horses eventually landed the man from Orange, Texas, in the saddle of a movie career.
“Actually, the first movie I did was All American Cowboy,” said
Headrick. “That was filmed in McKinney, Texas, and I actually furnished horses for that. I met some of the stunt guys and thought,
‘You know, I can do that.’” (All American Cowboy [1985] starred
James Drury, Gene Autry, Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford,
Clint Walker, Buck Taylor and Ken Curtis, all veterans of an era
when TV westerns ruled. Country greats Merle Haggard, Waylon
Jennings and Charley Pride were also in the production.)
