our neighbors: A MUST SEE Adams Fashion Optical — A Sight For Sore Eyes By Candice DeFrancis F 86 amily-owned-and-operated since 1973, Adams Fashion Optical is a full-service retail optical boutique that was decades ahead of its time in terms of flattering fashionable eyewear. It was the brainchild of Lloyd Adams who was dedicated to providing quality frames and lenses for each of their patients. After Lloyd retired in 1995, his son David took over the busi- ness and hasn’t looked back.  “I started working for him in high school,” David said. “I have experience in high produc- tion lab facilities throughout my career, as well as lab manager in small independent doctor’s offices in the Midwest.” David loves Mineral Wells because it’s where he grew up and he loves the beauty of the Brazos River Valley as well as the rich history of the town. David and the rest of the staff of Adams Fashion Optical are always on the lookout for design- er frame lines that you won’t normally find in rural areas, as well as lens styles and coatings to fit all patients’ needs. “We specialize in frame styling, unique frame selec- tion, including vintage eyewear restoration and new sales of vintage lines,” David said. “We pride ourselves on offering price points to meet the needs and budgets of all that come to us. We also provide unmatched frame service, including solder- ing hinge repair, routine main- tenance and full restoration of any frame than can be restored. Older worn-out frame recondi- tioning is not recommended, but “Men always make passes at girls who wear glasses.” – Dorothy Parker (sort of) David Adams Photo by Tristan Evans
