eatherford High School alumnus Taylor Young
always had an interest in the real estate business
and the process of purchasing a home, but it took her
6-year-old son, Malachi, to drive her to get her license
and go into the business.
“I went through a divorce and was waiting tables so I
put myself through school to better myself and do some-
thing flexible to be with my son,” she said. “My mom
would watch my son while I worked, so I would miss
bedtimes and other events. I wanted something so I would
be able to spend time with him.”
Although she is blessed to work with such a wonderful
company, Young said that the one thing she could change
in real estate would be making the buying and selling
process easier for clients so that more people could fulfill
the American dream of owning their home. When she’s
not selling houses to the masses, she has a few small busi-
nesses on the side and is a member of the GMWAR board.
She also sponsored the first-ever semi-pro soccer team that
was started in 2018. Young also loves to give back to the
community with a couple of other charities, including the
Judge Fite Charitable Foundation that provides support to
anyone in need of assistance.
“Another cause near and dear to my heart is our bear
drive. Throughout the year, we collect stuffed bears and
animals and then, on Christmas morning, my real estate
family and I deliver these bears to the local hospitals to
the children and elderly. It’s one of the most touching
experiences I have had the pleasure to be involved with. It
has become my family’s new yearly tradition,” she said.
Young says she not only feels honored to receive this
award, but just to be associated with the illustrious Jim
Duncan.
“Just to be associated with Jim Duncan and nominated
for this award truly means the world to me. Mr. Duncan is
a legend in the real estate world. I don’t know anyone else
with his honesty, integrity and kindness. He definitely has
set the bar high for me,” she said.
For Young, her number one and role model is her
mom, or Gammaw, to her son.
“She’s the strongest woman I have ever known, as I
couldn’t imagine raising three kids alone. You hardly ever
heard her complain, and she always found a way to make
it work. She somehow made it out on top, and is now the
best “Gammaw” to my son! She has always been there for
me anytime I needed her and she is my rock. I don’t know
what I would do without her,” she said.
Young could not see herself living anywhere else other
than here in Weatherford where she is surrounded by all
her family and friends. She is currently looking forward to
her upcoming nuptials and the growth of her family with
fiancé, Daniel Garcia.
